Tracey (or other 60ft Wreck) and Reef (2 Tank Open Water Level)

5 hours

Experience one of South Florida's most thrilling underwater adventures — the Fort Lauderdale Wreck Trek, a legendary drift dive through three historic shipwrecks resting approximately 65–70 feet below the surface, lined up just 200 feet apart on a north-south axis. Begin your journey on the Tracey (also known as the Ken Vitale), a 131-foot former oil rig supply vessel that was seized by U.S. Customs for drug trafficking before being sunk as an artificial reef on March 2, 1999. Sitting upright with her bow pointing north, the Tracey is a diver's playground — from the atmospheric wheelhouse to the midship platform, she's home to an incredible variety of marine life and offers penetration opportunities suitable for divers of all experience levels. From there, follow the rebar stakes along the sandy bottom south to the Jay Scutti, a 95-foot Dutch tugboat originally built in the Netherlands in 1961. Caught smuggling marijuana and later donated to the Broward County Artificial Reef Program, the Jay Scutti has been a fixture on the reef since 1986. Her hull is encrusted with colorful sponges, hydroids, and tunicates, drawing clouds of tropical fish and making her propeller one of the most iconic photo opportunities in all of Fort Lauderdale diving. Then ride the current north from the Tracey to the Merci Jesus, a 90-foot vessel seized by U.S. Customs in 1998 for drug possession. Sitting upright and blanketed in rich coral growth, the Merci Jesus is teeming with tropical fish and makes for a spectacular finale to an unforgettable dive. If the current is in your favor, hitting all three wrecks on a single tank is absolutely within reach — a true trifecta. Whether you're a seasoned wreck diver or just getting started, the Fort Lauderdale Wreck Trek is a bucket-list dive right in our backyard.
